Initially, your Atlas has been set up with your school defined Subjects. However, as a System Admin, you can add, edit, and delete subjects that appear in the Atlas system via Admin > Admin Dashboard > Subjects.
Application
When updating a Subject in Atlas, you impact all current year courses and recycled courses associated with it. Therefore, exercise caution when deleting a subject. The system will provide an option to reassign related courses and course titles to another subject before deletion.
Add a New Subject
From Admin > Admin Dashboard > Subjects:
1. Click Add New Subject button.
2. Type the new subject name in the Subject field.
3. Select the Identifier from the drop-down menu that most closely corresponds to the subject. This identifier helps establish a common language for sharing curriculum globally through the Atlas Exemplars. It's not visible to Atlas users.
4. Click Save to apply your changes.
Edit or Delete a Subject
From Admin > Admin Dashboard > Subjects > in the Actions column:
- Click Edit to update the subject name or identifier as desired. Click Save to apply your changes.
- Click Delete to remove a subject from Atlas:
- Atlas will not allow a subject to be deleted if current year courses and course titles are assigned to it. Atlas will display a list of courses and course titles that must be reassigned to another subject or removed before the subject can be deleted.
