As a system admin, you have the ability to make changes to any school's unit planner template. Your rights are limited to:
- Edit already existing templates. You can't create, delete, or re-assign templates. Please contact us to discuss any of those options.
- Create (in the Unit Template Categories section), add, and remove categories from your already existing templates.
- Add, edit, and delete "pre-populated text" in free-text box categories.

Manage Unit Planner Templates |

In Admin > Manage Unit Planner Templates you'll see a list of all templates in your site. The table content is:
- Sort: to sort your templates order. This will not affect the order of your schools in our filters. If you need to re-sort the list of schools, contact us.
- Template Name: this is the name given by our team when this template was first created. You can change the name when you edit the template by clicking the pencil (Edit) icon.
- School: the list of schools using this template. If it's empty, that means no schools are using this template and changes will not be visible in any course.
- (If enabled) Public Site: if it's checked, that means this template is used in the school's public version.
- Actions: preview the template, or edit the template.
View a Template
In Admin > Manage Unit Planner Templates page, find the desired template, then click the pencil icon (Edit) in the Actions column.
The Right Section: Design Elements and Categories
The right half of the template editor is for the Design Elements and Unit Template Categories.
Design Elements are the elements you can add to your template for layout organization:
- Section Header
- Text Block
While Unit Template Categories are the template elements (free-text boxes, drop-down menus, and checklists) that users utilize to input the curriculum. The unit template categories are managed in the Unit Template Categories section in the Admin Dashboard.
The Left Section: Unit Template Name and Unit Template Design
The left half of the template editor is the work space for designing your template.
- Rename the template by typing in the new title in the Unit Template Name box.
- In the Unit Template Design section, drag and drop the boxes to update and sort your template design. This is the design of each unit in the school(s) assigned to this template.
Edit a Template
In Admin > Manage Unit Planner Templates find the desired template, then click the pencil icon (Edit) in the Actions column.
- Add more boxes into the design workspace by clicking the + icon to the right side of the desired category or design element. Or simply, drag and drop the box into your workspace. Dropping a box on top of an existing one will place it in the same row. You can add up to 3 boxes side by side in the same row.
- Click the X icon on the top right corner of each box, to remove it from the template. This will remove any content that was entered into that category as well. The content in the category is retained if the category is added back to the template.
- To rename a category, visit the Unit Template Categories section in the Admin Dashboard. The content will remain intact when you rename a category.
Remember to save your template before leaving the template editor page.
Add & Edit a Section Header Box
In the template editor menu:
- Click the + icon on the right side of the Section box, or simply, drag and drop the box into your workspace.
- Click the pencil icon in the top right corner.
- Add the title of your header in the "Section Header" field. You can change the color of the background and the text as well.
- Optional: click Add Additional Section Header to add another header in the same row. Add the title of your header in the Section Header field, and change the color of the background and the text, if needed. You can create up to three section headers in the same row.
- Click Save to record your changes.
Add & Edit a Text Block Box
In the template editor menu:
- Click the + icon on the right side of the Text Block box, or simply, drag and drop the box into your workspace.
- Clicking the + icon will place the Text Block at the end of your template, outside the Section Header area, if available. You can drag and drop the box within the Section Header area
- Click the pencil icon in the top right corner.
- Add the content into the free text box and format your text using the available formatting options.
- Click Save to record your changes. In order to keep your working area clean, your text in the Text Block won't show up in the Unit Template Design section. Click the Preview Template button at the top of the template editor to view the content.
Add & Edit Unit Template Categories
In the template editor menu:
- Click the + icon on the right side of the Unit Template Category box, or simply, drag and drop the box into your workspace.
- Clicking the + icon will place the Unit Template Category at the end of your template, outside the Section Header area, if available. You can drag and drop the box within the Section Header area.
- Click the pencil icon in the top right corner.
- Optional: add text in the Text Above Category Name field to place a text above the category's header.
- Optional: add text in the Text Under Category Name field to place a text right under the category's header.
- Optional: add a pre-populated text that will show-up automatically within the category in the Add Pre-populated text here .... The newly added pre-populated text will show up in newly created units only, or in newly created categories (no curriculum data yet has been entered). To insert a pre-populated text to already existing categories (categories with curriculum data), please contact us.
- Optional: add a text in the Text Under Category field to place a text under the category content.
- Click Save to record your changes.
You can add hyperlinks, into any of these sections using the formatting bar available in each field. You can add links, images, videos and tables to the Pre-populated field only.
Preview a Template
Template Preview displays how your template will look like in the “View” mode. So it might look different from how it will appear in the “Edit” mode (when users are editing the planners):
A) In the Admin > Manage Unit Templates, click the Preview icon in the Actions column.
B) In the Unit Template Editor, click the Preview Template button in the upper left corner.
Considerations
- Use Save for any changes you make thereafter.
- Changes you make here take place immediately for the courses using this template.
- Categories removed will retain the curriculum users have put into them and can be restored to the template later if needed.
