Marking proficiency levels is a powerful tracking tool for Curriculum Developers. Reports from the proficiency level data can help Curriculum Developers easily answer these types of questions:
- What are all the standards I Introduced, Practiced, or Mastered this year?
- Which standards have only been introduced in the first quarter?
- On and before this date what standards have been taught and at what proficiency level?
- When did I first practice this standard?
As a Planning Tool:
- Measure the intent for students to reach a certain proficiency level within the year or span of years, depending on standard/benchmark.
- Build reports based on different proficiency levels selected or not selected in the planning for the year.
Example:
If I’m using this tool to help deconstruct and plan for the year, I’d like to see a report for how many standards were met at the proficiency level I had planned, and which were not, so I know how to plan the remainder of the year.
As a Diary Tracking Tool:
- Shows the users what standard/benchmark were covered, when they were covered, and to what proficiency level.
- As standards are addressed, Curriculum Developers “check them off” at the appropriate level.
- To understand which standards are introduced but never mastered.
Enabling proficiency levels is an optional view that the school can turn on or off. If it is not enabled in your system and you would like it to be, reach out to one of your System Administrators to contact us at support@onatlas.com. After enabling proficiency levels, Curriculum Developers have the ability to identify them while doing any other annotation for standards.
Identify Proficiency Levels in the Assessment
From My Atlas > My Courses > Unit Planner > Add New Assessment:
1. On the right side of the page, you will find three checkboxes (I, P, or M) next to each benchmark. Please note that your school may have assigned different labels to these proficiency levels. Ensure that you select one checkbox for each benchmark.
2. Click Save to record your changes.
While in the unit planner view, you can un-target standards in any assessment or change the proficiency level status.
